Part One: Deena, Kat, Kara, and Me! Part Two: Bad luck continues

Part One
What do three bigger-than-life elites have in common with me? Here's the story.
This morning, before leaving the beach, I stopped and ate breakfast with Speedy Anna. Talking with Anna always makes me feel better. She's such a positive person, with always something enlightening to say. Plus she and I can share running obsessions/ concerns. As we were leaving, she asked about tracking information for St. Louis, as she wanted to check on me. I told her I didn't think they had online tracking, but I was Bib #8. She broke into a big smile and said, "That's Kara's number for Boston. You know, Kara Goucher?" Do I know? Of COURSE I know. She's only the cutest distance runner in the country! For some reason knowing I'm wearing Kara's number makes me smile. Now I have to run well as not to curse it for her. LOL. I have to mention Deena here, as she is my favorite marathoner. I literally cried when she broke her foot this past summer. I love her positive outlook on life and the way she always gets back on the horse. She's an inspiration to me. Katherine Switzer is an inspiration for obvious reasons. I choose to relate myself to her now, as I think I am ready for a good fight. After getting my bootie beat the past few months, I am finally ready for retaliation. In a running book that I have, Kat is shown pushing a man off of her, as she presses on in the Boston Marathon. Go, girl, go. As I inch closer and closer to Sunday, I hope I can keep the perseverance of three great athletes on the edge of my brain.

Part Two
Okay, so after getting sick, we left for the beach for a few days of R & R. K's aunt & uncle have a condo on the beach, so we vacationed there w/ his parents from Sunday to today. After the illness/cipro issue, a black cat crossed our path. Whhooooo... scary. I sort of laughed, saying maybe this will have the reverse effect on me. Alright, then I slept wrong and got a crick in my neck to add to my issues. Next, we arrived at home to find that one of our cats, Aloe (the baby), is missing. I realized then that I left my Garmin, ipod, AND phone charger at the condo. So, Sunday I will not be able to track my pace, nor will I be able to call friends w/ a -COUGH- stellar-COUGH- race report. Nice, real nice. Now, there is a chance of thundershowers on Sunday. What's a girl to do about all these odds against her? The good news is that the sinus infection is rapidly improving w/ no side effects of the cipro. Run strong, friends!

Ps. Vote for my marathon outfit (pic below)

  1. All of these little "setbacks" or just teaching you to trust and rely on the only thing you can: yourself.

You are going to kick so much butt. Can't wait to read your STELLAR race report.

  2. Get me an address and I will priority mail you my Garmin to use for Sunday. Most hotels take deliveries (I do it for work). You should have my email if not send me a message on RWOL.

  3. No Garmin might be a blessing in disguise.

Then again, it's hard to deny the gentleman above! (Where is the  icon from RWOL when I need it?)

  6. Um, hate to bust your bubble, but nothing is blue in that picture. The one on the left is pink top w/ black shorts and the one on the right is pink shorts, black top. Soooo... which one?

  7. Did you find Aloe?!?

How cool about the bib number, so impressive! You are going to fly through this race, girl, I just know it. All these little challenges are just to keep you on your toes. Race Day will be Your Day!

Lol, I was going to say the navy top, but I guess it's black (which is always a fave choice with me), so I pick the one on the right. But I'm sure you'll look adorable in either.

  9. Just get yourself to the start line in one piece, and run. Forget the obstacles, and run.
I hope it's a good day for you.

  10. I was thinking it was navy too but on this iPhone it looks kinda bluish too. Either way that is the one I would go with.

  15. Ohhhh wow! It WAS you! I was standing right next to you at the start of the St. Louis Marathon... and I was thinking... hmmmm that sure looks like L.A. Runner! But I would have felt silly if I asked, and it wasn't you! Then I checked your blog to see if you ran STL and you did! And now I wish I had said something! Haha. Well anyway, if there are any pictures of the start, I was right next to you in a pink Nike t-shirt, and I only ran the half marathon. I can't say I was loving the rain, but it was a fun race. I saw your results, great job!! Can't wait to read all about it. I switched from blogspot to a RW blog, so I put the link with this comment. Safe travels!
