Why I love being a girl

My girlfriends are so spectacular. My b-day (the worst on Earth) is Jan. 1. So, two of my BFs and I drove to Destin to go to my favorite breakfast restaurant, Another Broken Egg Cafe in Village Wharf. On the way there I had a blast from the past by seeing SU cross country friend, Jan Vining. Despite being out of college for almost 8 years, she looks EXACTLY the same. She was even running with her hubby. I really had fun talking w/ her, but we had to get some food soon. So, the wait was really, really long. It was so long that we went and sat in Starbucks and had some coffee.

Finally we got our table and the pigging out began. We each had mimosas and then got french toast, omelets, sausage, potatoes, and fruit. We shared plates, had another mimosa, and ate until stuffed. The best part about girlfriends is that you can totally be yourself, no pressure. No worry about being neat and clean, sexy or pretty, or even using proper grammar. They love you for you! I love the way girlfriends can share private jokes, just by looking at each other. I have 3 best girl friends in life right now and each one is completely different. I love that.

Anyway, after eating, we walked around Baytowne Wharf and really wanted to go to the beach. It was just too windy and cold. So, we went to Barnes and Nobles and I ordered Advanced Marathoning 2 for FULL PRICE. Yep, didn't even wait for it to go on sale. It felt good. We headed home to find the boys watching football- shocking. K had made me a really yummy and cute strawberry cake w/ strawberry icing, a favorite of mine from childhood.

My favorite part of the whole day was when Kerry gave me my birthday gifts- all 30 of them! Yep, 30 wrapped gifts w/ individual tags. Each tag listed a reason she thinks I am great. Can you believe someone has 30 reasons to like me? That in itself is amazing. What is even more amazing is that someone with an infant and a full time job would make the time to do that for me. See why I love being a girl?

2009 is literally giving me a diamonds, as well. K surprised me with a BEAUTIFUL new diamond wedding band that morning. The diamond band represents new beginnings. The irony is, I didn't know about this gift when posting last. So, diamonds took on a literal and metaphorical representation! Wow- that's deep. I think I am the luckiest girl on Earth- great friends and family. What else can a person ask for in life?
